iPad Stand Reviewed by UK MacUser

December 10, 2013

MacUser is a British publication bringing up-to-date tech news to readers each month. Their 2013 Gift Guide included a Travel Vest, some stylish headphones and the TabletTail:Monkey Kit iPad stand.

“Another product that arose from a Kickstarter project, the innovative Monkey Kit is based on a hemispherical ball that attaches to the back of any iPad by suction. It’s pumped up using a large, chunky button, which guarantees a solid fit. At the other end of the gadget, rather than a regular stand, is a metre-long flexible tail that can be twisted into any position. Curl it up to make a table prop, or if you’re in an armchair or lying on a bed you can tuck it under your legs, where, being made of soft silicone, it’s surprisingly comfortable.

Because the head can be bent to literally any angle, it’s easy to get your iPad in exactly the right position for viewing. The makers claim the suction pump will adhere to just about any surface, including cases, but we found it worked best on a naked iPad or a hard plastic shell; leather doesn’t provide the smoothness required for reliable grip.

The kit separates into two for travel, and the pump base can also be used by itself, rested on a tabletop.”

It’s the time of year when people are looking for inspiration for Christmas gifts. Many times, people will reach for popular magazines and refer to their suggestions, reviews and roundups for gifts.

The UK’s PC Advisor has included Octa’s TabletTail: Monkey Kit in their round up of holiday gifts. Their article reads: “The Octa TabletTail’s suction pad allows it to adhere to almost any tablet or e-reader. A bendable arm, aka the Monkey Kit, is coated in soft but grippy silicone. iPad Stand by Octa Makes a Great Stocking Stuffer!

November 18, 2013

Are you looking for a great gift for the technology lover in your life? With so many options out there, a bit of guidance can go a long way.

The British tech review magazine PC Pro has included the Monkey Kit as part of their Holiday Gift Guide. Along with many great products, they list the flexible iPad stand as a great stocking filler for this holiday season!

Founded in 1994, PC Pro is a monthly publication that reaches 42,115 readers monthly. It is one of several technology magazines put out by Dennis Publishing. While they mainly Windows-focused, PC Pro does include some Apple content.

Along with their print issues, articles and reviews can be found on their site www.pcpro.co.uk. They also publish a weekly podcast available  both on their website and the iTunes store.

They state “Octa’s TabletTail Monkey Kit is one of the most unusual tablet stands we’ve seen. It attaches to your device via a vacuum-pump base, and has a poseable “tail” that can be bent like a giant pipe cleaner to act as a stand, or wrapped around nearby objects. It held our test tablets solidly in place, and its tail makes it possible to create a sturdy, flexible desk or kitchen worktop stand.”
