The latest and greatest version of the popular mobile game series Angry Birds has been out for just three days and has already cracked the 10-million download mark, according to game-maker Rovio’s official Angry Birds Twitter feed. Clearly the original version, its seasonal sequel, and its Rio movie tie-in game just couldn’t deliver all the green pig-smashing that the people demand.

This time around, Angry Birds Space features 60 new levels to bust up, plus a host of new birds with unique powers like fire and ice, and an important new dynamic for the game’s physics based gameplay: orbits. Launching your birds past spinning planets and asteroids will bend their paths and send them in new directions. Clever gamers will need to craft a sequence that bounces their birds from orbit to orbit, careening around a level in a whole new way. Visually, everything has gotten a complete makeover. Now the pigs are sporting robot-suits with enhanced egg-snatching abilities, and the titular fowl feature all new animations as they soar through the dramatic darkness of deep space.

Not sure if you’re ready to drop a dollar and buy into the hype? For those who need convincing, you can watch a trailer for the game and glimpse its new characters here. And don’t miss the adorable first announcement of the new Space edition, made by NASA astronaut Don Pettit from aboard the International Space Station.

Once you’re ready to start flinging far out of Earth’s atmosphere, Apple users can pick up Angry Birds Space ($.99) and it’s iPad-ready HD version ($2.99) at the iTunes store, while Android owners can get it from the newly re-launched Google Play shop for free (with ads). And to make sure their 10 million downloads becomes 20 million in no time, Rovio has also made the new game available in a Kindle Fire HD Edition ($2.99) and promise that a Windows Phone version is landing soon.
